SWC Meetings

Meetings typically begin with a 'flash writing' assignment. This is a fun exercise of writing for 10 minutes on your choice of four or five suggested topics or a practice assignment of some writing skill, followed by sharing with the group if members wish.

A short business meeting follows 'flash writing', including time for writers to share briefly their current writing trials and successes -- "Making a Mark" in the writing life.

If a Guest Speaker is present, he or she wil present at this point of the meeting.

Next, members read aloud from work they have brought copies of to share with the group. Discussion follows the readings if time permits.

If more detailed critiquing is requested, writers may bring a few self-addressed, stamped envelopes for members of the group to use for review. We request that members who need feedback on more than three pages of work at a time follow this procedure.

Visitors are encouraged to stop by meetings and decide if this is the "Write" place for them to grow in their work.
